Steelmaking process automation

Requirement

The process line operated under high temperatures and demanding field conditions, and consistency between shifts and energy-consumption monitoring could not be ensured.

Our approach

Siemens S7-1500-based PLC software and WinCC Unified SCADA were used to manage the electric arc furnace, ladle furnace and CCM lines from a single platform. Recipe management, alarm history, trend records and shift reports were added.

Outcome

The process can now be monitored from a single interface; shift reports and energy consumption are reported automatically.
