Licence plate recognition and barrier control

Requirement

Vehicle entries and exits were recorded manually, causing queues at peak times. Cloud-based solutions did not comply with the facility's internal data policy.

Our approach

An OCR engine trained specifically for the Turkish licence plate format was set up to run on an edge device. The recognised plate is sent to the Mitsubishi PLC via the SLMP protocol, and the barrier opens automatically for authorised vehicles. Entry and exit records are stored in a local database.

Outcome

The system operates without a cloud connection, and data does not leave the facility.
